La plataforma de streaming Netflix anunció este viernes la adquisición de Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) por un monto de 82,700 millones de dólares.
La operación, comunicada de manera conjunta, incluye los estudios de cine y televisión, así como las marcas HBO y HBO Max.
La oferta final de Netflix se fijó en 27.75 dólares por acción de WBD, superando la propuesta de 24 dólares por acción que había presentado Paramount.
Junto a Comcast, estas tres compañías habían manifestado interés en adquirir la empresa de entretenimiento.
El proceso de ofertas por la totalidad o parte de WBD comenzó en octubre, cuando Paramount presentó una oferta inicial de 27 dólares por acción por el cien por ciento de la compañía.
Posteriormente, Netflix y Comcast se sumaron a la puja, la cual tuvo dos rondas, la última el 1 de diciembre.
Las ofertas de Netflix y Comcast se centraban en una parte de la empresa, excluyendo a Discovery Global.
Paramount expresó su descontento con el proceso, denunciando en una carta abierta emitida un día antes del anuncio que existía una parcialidad que favorecía a Netflix.
