La contaminación de la presa Madín provoca la muerte de aves, cuya agua es potabilizada y consumida por habitantes de este municipio, Tlanepantla, Atizapán y Nicolás Romero.
Ixtzel Coeto, de Fundación Bhagavat Dharma, aseguró que las aguas de la presa Madín son fétidas y en su orilla se observan los cadáveres de las aves, al parecer por la contaminación del lugar.
Mencionó que en los alrededores de la presa se construyen nuevos desarrollos habitacionales, cuyos drenajes descargan en el lugar.
Durante cinco semanas, integrantes de organizaciones sociales, colonos y trabajadores municipales participaron en jornadas de limpieza de la presa en el pueblo Nuevo Madín, ubicado en Naucalpan., de donde fueron retiradas toneladas de basura y seis camiones de lirio.
En dichas jornadas participaron las fundaciones Bhagavat Dharma y Caltia, y las organizaciones Nacel Arcoiris y Eco Truly Park, además de 30 trabajadores del Organismo de Agua Potable, Alcantarillado y Saneamiento (OAPAS) de Naucalpan.
La presa Madín se localiza en los límites de Atizapán y Naucalpan, aunque la mayor parte del cuerpo de agua está en el primero de dichos municipios.
Francisco Santos Arreola, director del OAPAS, afirmó que las jornadas de limpieza fueron convocadas por fundaciones y apoyadas por autoridades municipales, por lo que fue aprovechado el puente vacacional de Semana Santa.
Dijo que participaron alrededor de 30 empleados del OAPAS, quienes limpiaron la presa y la barranca que la rodea, junto con los voluntarios de las fundaciones.
Detalló que el lirio será molido y lo convertirán en composta.
David Agustín Belgodere, Subdirector de Participación Ciudadana y Educación Ambiental de Naucalpan, afirmó: “Es importante rescatar este espacio, pues tiene todo para ser considerado un área natural protegida con categoría de Santuario del Agua. En estas aguas hoy muere la fauna y son estas aguas las que llegan a miles de casas para ser consumidas por nosotros. El cinco por ciento del agua que se consume Naucalpan proviene de aquí, así como la que toman los atizapenses, los tlalnepantlences o los habitantes de Nicolás Romero”.
