El municipio de Atizapán cuenta sólo con 24 patrullas, para brindar seguridad y apoyo a una población de al menos un millón de habitantes.
Autoridades locales informaron que la pasada administración municipal dejó 40 unidades para realizar las tareas de seguridad, de las cuales funcionan sólo 25 y 15 están para la chatarra.
Con este parque vehicular, desde hace 13 días, elementos de seguridad pública han realizado sus labores, en las diversas comunidades, señaló Eduardo González Castillo, comisario de Atizapán.
“Estamos hablando el 60 por ciento tiene la capacidad de ser útil, abandono, otras a disposición, armas una solo a disposición”
Ante la situación que prevalece en el municipio, principalmente en el área de Seguridad Pública, la presidenta municipal, Ana Balderas, solicitó un crédito de 150 millones de pesos, que serán destinados para la compra de equipo de seguridad pública, unidades y para contratar más elementos policiacos.
La edil mencionó que al menos 300 elementos policiacos se requieren de inmediato para reforzar las acciones de seguridad en esta demarcación; considerada como unas de mayor índice delictivo del Valle de México
