El famoso actor ganador de un Oscar, Leonardo Di Caprio, lanzó a través de su cuenta de Instagram un llamado para que el presidente Enrique Peña Nieto sepa que es necesario proteger a la vaquita marina, especie que se encuentra amenazada por la pesca de la totoaba y de la cual quedan poco más de 30 ejemplares en su hábitat natural.
En su cuenta de Instagram, donde acumula 16 millones 671 mil 659 seguidores -algo así como la población total del Edomex y la CDMX-, el intérprete de Jack, en Titanic, publicó un mensaje en el que pide unirse a él para exigirle a Peña cuidar al mamífero endémico del Mar de Cortés.

“El miembro más pequeño de la familia marsopa es el mamífero marino más amenazado del mundo”, posteó el actor y añadió, “las prácticas pesqueras ilegales han causado un dramático descenso en la población de la vaquita marina. Las menos de 30 vaquitas que aún sobreviven se extinguirán si no se toman acciones inmediatas”.
