Se estima que en nuestro país el cáncer de próstata es la segunda causa de muerte por tumores malignos en hombres de 65 años o más, con cerca de 5 mil defunciones anuales, lo que significa que aproximadamente 14 varones fallecen por día.
Ante esta situación, la presidenta del DIF municipal de Atizapán de Zaragoza, Carmen Soto Escalante, urgió a los varones atizapenses para que a partir de los 40 años se realicen el examen para detectar de manera oportuna algún problema relacionado con el cáncer de próstata.
Soto Escalante, manifestó que de manera preventiva se recomienda hacer el tacto rectal a partir de los 35 años en hombres con antecedentes familiares con problemas de la próstata, aunque es un examen casi obligatorio para hombres entrando en edad madura a partir de los 40,45 y 50 en adelante.
Por otro lado, al referirse al cáncer testicular manifestó que este año más de 5 mil hombres jóvenes serán diagnosticados con este padecimiento, sin embargo, el 95 por ciento de los casos pueden ser curables si se detecta a tiempo.
Destacó que lamentablemente los tabúes sociales influyen mucho a la hora de que las personas deben realizarse una autoexploración, el miedo al qué dirán y otras preguntas terminan por afectar un diagnóstico a tiempo y cuando se hace ya es irreversible en la mayoría de los casos.
“Si detectan dolor, sensibilidad o aumento en el tamaño de un testículo y sangre en el esperma son algunas de las señales que indican que puede existir una anomalía en la zona testicular, por lo deben de asistir a su médico cuanto antes para que realice un diagnóstico más completo”, precisó.
En ese sentido, México tiene una tasa excesivamente alta de mortalidad por cáncer testicular, de ahí la importancia de que a partir de la adolescencia los hombres se realicen al menos una vez al mes la autoexploración.
“El 60 por ciento de los jóvenes no se revisan por pena y mucho menos dejan que los revise su médico; sin embargo, la mejor batalla es la que se evita. Con toda confianza pueden acercarse a nuestras instalaciones o llamar a los teléfonos del DIF municipal, 91 48 46 29 y 91 48 46 01, donde con mucho gusto los atenderemos”, finalizó.
