El gobernador Eruviel Ávila entregó estímulos económicos a Lupita González, ganadora de la medalla de plata en 20 kilómetros de marcha, y a Ismael Hernández, medallista de bronce en pentatlón moderno, en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río 2016.
Con la entrega de este estímulo, los atletas podrán adquirir una vivienda, e instruyó a la Secretaría de Cultura, así como al Instituto Mexiquense de Cultura Física y Deporte (Imcufide) revisar el decreto correspondiente, para que los campeones olímpicos mexiquenses puedan estar becados de manera permanente; también dio estímulos económicos a sus entrenadores.
Por otra parte, Eruviel Ávila anunció que en total se invertirán 4 millones de pesos en estímulos económicos y para recuperación de gastos de deportistas mexiquenses olímpicos y paralímpicos que participaron o toman parte en la justa deportiva de Río 2016. Con ello, reiteró su compromiso de seguir invirtiendo en espacios recreativos y deportivos como ciclovías, albercas y escuelas de clavados, así como gimnasios, que han sido construidos en Ecatepec, Tultitlán, Tepotzotlán y Zinacantepec.
Afirmó que el esfuerzo que realizaron Lupita e Ismael unió al país y al Estado de México, porque han portado la bandera mexicana con orgullo y han colocado a México en lo alto, al conquistar la máxima distinción a la que aspira un deportista a nivel mundial, además de que se convirtieron en los primeros mexicanos en ganar una presea en estas disciplinas.
