Una fuga de amoníaco registrada este jueves en la planta procesadora de alimentos Yana, ubicada en el fraccionamiento Industrial La Loma Tlalnemex, Tlalnepantla, Estado de México, provocó la intoxicación de 27 empleados y la evacuación de más de 100 personas.
Evacuación y traslado de empleados intoxicados en Edomex
De acuerdo con la Dirección de Protección Civil y Gestión Integral de Riesgos de Tlalnepantla, 14 trabajadores fueron trasladados a hospitales regionales debido a la gravedad de los síntomas, mientras que otros 13 recibieron atención prehospitalaria en el lugar.
Paramédicos de la Cruz Roja Mexicana, así como elementos de Bomberos, Protección Civil y Guardia Nacional, acudieron al sitio tras la alerta emitida por la seguridad interna de la empresa.
El área fue acordonada y se aplicaron protocolos de ventilación para neutralizar el riesgo.
Riesgos del amoníaco en la industria alimentaria
Las autoridades municipales explicaron que el amoníaco se utiliza comúnmente como refrigerante en la industria alimentaria, pero representa un riesgo alto para la salud al ser inhalado. Puede ocasionar irritación en ojos, nariz y garganta, dificultad respiratoria e incluso edema pulmonar en casos graves.
Es fundamental que las personas expuestas sean trasladadas de inmediato a un espacio ventilado y reciban oxígeno si presentan dificultad para respirar, de acuerdo con Protección Civil de Tlalnepantla.
La zona industrial permanece bajo resguardo mientras se llevan a cabo labores de seguridad y revisión de los sistemas de almacenamiento del químico.
Hasta el momento se desconocen las causas que originaron la fuga.
El gobierno municipal aseguró que se mantendrán las investigaciones para determinar el origen del incidente y garantizar la seguridad de los trabajadores y de las instalaciones aledañas.
