La temporada de lluvias de las últimas semanas contribuyeron a un incremento significativo en los niveles de almacenamiento de las principales presas del país, según el más reciente informe del Comité Técnico de Operación de Obras Hidráulicas de la Comisión Nacional del Agua (Conagua).
Entre las presas con mayores aumentos se encuentran las que forman parte del Sistema Cutzamala, que suministra agua a la Ciudad de México.
De acuerdo con los datos proporcionados por Conagua, las 210 presas principales del país están a un 92% de su capacidad total de almacenamiento.
Específicamente, el Sistema Cutzamala, que incluye tres presas clave, ha registrado una recuperación de 131.51 millones de metros cúbicos desde el 19 de junio, alcanzando actualmente un 42.77% de su capacidad total, lo que equivale a 334.68 millones de metros cúbicos.
El pasado 12 de agosto el nivel de almacenamiento era del 36.84%, con un volumen de 288.30 millones de metros cúbicos.
La Subdirección General Técnica de Conagua informó que la temporada de lluvias y ciclones tropicales de 2024 ha sido un factor determinante para el aumento de los niveles de agua en las presas, que han pasado de un 49% de almacenamiento el 12 de agosto a un 53% recientemente.
El Sistema Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) señaló que las precipitaciones recientes han contribuido a disminuir los niveles de sequía en México. Para el 15 de agosto, se reportó que el 34.73% del territorio nacional presentaba condiciones de sequía, en rangos de moderada a excepcional.
Además, el 13.13% del territorio nacional se encuentra en condiciones de sequía anormalmente secas, mientras que el 52.14% de México está libre de sequía.
Las lluvias también han ocasionado diversos problemas, como encharcamientos, inundaciones y desbordamientos de ríos, principalmente debido a la acumulación de basura en los sistemas de drenaje.
En respuesta, Conagua ha desplegado operativos emergentes en varias localidades, incluidas Chalco en el Estado de México, Tlaquepaque en Jalisco, Chetumal en Quintana Roo y Guaymas en Sonora.
