La explanada principal de este municipio se convertirá en una cancha de basquetbol profesional para recibir el Wilson Tour FIBA 3X3 México, nueva modalidad de baloncesto creado por The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) en el mundo.
Desde 2015 se lleva a cabo este deporte en México y gracias al interés de la Presidente Municipal Ruth Olvero Nieto para incentivar el deporte en la demarcación, esta ocasión Atizapán será sede del Circuito Oficial México City Masters 2019 que se desarrollará en otras cinco sedes ubicadas en el Valle de México y la CDMX.
Organizado por las subdirecciones de Deporte y Juventud municipal, la inauguración del Wilson Tour FIBA 3X3 México será el 2 de mayo a las 15:45 horas en la plaza cívica de Atizapán que albergará un estadio profesional donde jugarán los equipos hasta el sábado 4 de mayo bajo el siguiente roll:
Jueves 2 de mayo, categorías U15, U13, U11, U9, infantil promocional, tras la apertura del evento; viernes 3, U17, categoría libre femenil, juvenil promocional, a las 15 horas; y el sábado 4, categoría Libre Elite, mayores de 18 años, a las 9 horas.
Cabe destacar que los participantes de la categoría Libre Elite se registran en la plataforma de FIBA, donde se enlistan con los jugadores de todo el mundo (Rankin), de ahí la importancia de participar en cada torneo oficial.
El ganador de las justas celebradas en Atizapán será quien participe en el Torneo de Campeones, donde jugarán 10 equipos: los seis campeones resultantes de cada sede más cuatro equipos -dos de la Liga Profesional y dos de los participantes en los Word Tour anteriores-.
