Una camioneta en la que viajaban 21 peregrinos originarios de Xochimilco rumbo al santuario de Chalma sufrió un fuerte accidente al caer en un socavón en la carretera Malinalco-Chalma, a la altura del municipio de Ocuilan.
Los hechos ocurrieron la noche del martes cuando la unidad con placas de circulación LC-9976 del Estado de México volcó. En el lugar perdieron la vida dos peregrinos y más tarde una tercera persona falleció en el hospital.
También se reportaron 13 personas lesionadas, mientras que ocho más presentaron crisis nerviosas por el fuerte accidente y recibieron atención médica en el lugar.
El informe policial indica que la camioneta se fue a un barranco al salirse de la carretera e incluso en redes sociales se difundió la imagen de la unidad volcada sobre su costado derecho.
Por su parte, el ayuntamiento de Ocuilan precisó que servicios de emergencia, la policía municipal y Protección Civil se trasladaron al lugar para brindar asistencia a las víctimas.
“A través de nuestra consejería Jurídica hemos ofrecido acompañamiento legal para garantizar que los cuerpos de las personas fallecidas sean entregados oportunamente a sus familiares”, indicaron.
