Durante la conferencia ‘La Mañanera’, la presidenta de México, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, anunció el lanzamiento del Café Bienestar, una iniciativa que busca impulsar a familias productoras y ofrecer a consumidores un café nacional, sin aditivos ni saborizantes artificiales a menor precio.
La secretaria de Bienestar, María Luisa Albores González, informó que el programa involucra a 6 mil 646 productores y productoras, de los cuales seis de cada diez son mujeres. El acopio inicial alcanzará 913.56 toneladas de café, con una inversión de 59.4 millones de pesos.
El Café Bienestar se elabora con variedades arábica y robusta, cultivadas en comunidades indígenas mixes, mixtecos, nahuas, otomíes, popolucas, tlapanecos y totonacos, principalmente en Guerrero, Veracruz, Puebla y Oaxaca. El producto se comercializará en tres presentaciones:
- Frasco de 50 gramos: 35 pesos.
- Frasco de 90 gramos: 65 pesos.
- Frasco de 205 gramos: 110 pesos.
En la primera etapa, el Café Bienestar estará disponible en las Tiendas del Bienestar de Ciudad de México, Estado de México, Michoacán, Morelos, Puebla y Tlaxcala, con el objetivo de ampliar su distribución en las fases posteriores.
La segunda etapa incluirá a los estados de Colima, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Querétaro y Veracruz.
Posteriormente, en la tercera etapa, el producto llegará a Aguascalientes, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Yucatán y Zacatecas y la cuarta etapa cubrirá al resto del país.
El programa opera actualmente en 72 municipios y 465 localidades, además de contar con 14 centros de acopio y 8 puntos móviles destinados a la recolección y distribución del grano.
Impacto en el campo y beneficios ambientales
El proyecto también contempla efectos en la conservación de suelos y en la alimentación, por ejemplo Guerrero, de las 40 mil hectáreas cosechadas, 16,186.8 hectáreas recibieron apoyo alimentario, equivalente al 40.4% del total. En Puebla el porcentaje alcanzó 7.1%, en Veracruz 4.2% y en Oaxaca 0.2%.
De acuerdo con información de expertos, el consumo de café aporta antioxidantes que favorecen el metabolismo, la concentración y la reducción del riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares. Además, la producción de café bajo sombra contribuye a la biodiversidad, ya que mantiene ecosistemas similares a un bosque.
El Café Bienestar se vincula al programa Sembrando Vida y busca fortalecer la economía de pequeños productores mediante la compra directa y la promoción de prácticas agrícolas sostenibles.
