Vecinos y policías uniformados de la Dirección de Seguridad Pública y Tránsito, suman esfuerzos en el combate a la delincuencia, con el objetivo de convertir el municipio en el más seguro del país. Para ello, policías, mandos medios y superiores, participan en asambleas vecinales, en escuelas y en reuniones con padres de familia para orientar, instruir y capacitar a los atizapenses en la prevención del delito.
La principal misión de la Dirección de Seguridad Pública y Tránsito -a cargo del Comisario Eduardo González Castillo-, consiste en que los habitantes adquieran capacidad de reacción inmediata para actuar en la comisión de algún ilícito, así como fortalecer la denuncia ciudadana y concertar acuerdos en materia de seguridad.
Mediante los programas de combate a la delincuencia, la Subdirección de Prevención del Delito organiza foros y talleres en colonias, barrios y pueblos de Atizapán, y presenta a los Jefes de Sector de la policía municipal, donde además de orientar a los ciudadanos, reciben todo tipo de denuncias y quejas, las cuales son solucionadas de manera conjunta.
Durante una asamblea -donde participaron más de 500 comuneros de San Martín de Porres-, policías municipales profesionalmente capacitados fueron fieles receptores de las demandas ciudadanas en materia de seguridad pública, por lo que se hizo el compromiso de reforzar los patrullajes para evitar problemas sociales.
En tanto que un grupo de brigadistas de la Subdirección de Prevención del Delito de la Dirección de Seguridad Pública y Tránsito, acudieron al Fraccionamiento Villas de la Hacienda donde se dio respuesta al requerimiento vecinal de accesos controlados en sus calles
